Our client sells hot water systems into hospitals and the like. When they needed a new hot water mixing valve to give patients a shower at reliably controlled temperatures they came to us.
A key aim was to achieve lower cost than the traditional NC machined bronze parts allowed. We did this using high temperature, high stability thermoplastic. This required careful attention to tool design as well as part design to give adequate dimensional stability to maintain the very tight clearances of around 30 micrometers under all operating conditions. In conjunction with one of our tooling partners in Taiwan we delivered a successful outcome, providing our client a competitive advantage in the market place.
